Sunrise at Dawes Arboretum

“Everything starts with a sunrise, but it’s what we do before it sets that matters” – K. McGraw.

I went with a group of photographers from Central Ohio Photographic Society (COPS) and my friend Joan Garrett to Dawes Arboretum arriving at 6:45am on Saturday 4/2.  Several of us started at Dawes Lake, and although it was freezing cold and the morning color wasn’t spectacular, it was photo worthy and we did get a few shots of sunrise.  By the time we finished at Dawes Lake and moved on to the Japanese Garden, I couldn’t feel my fingers.  But I love being out in nature and observing the beautiful spring flowers and blooming trees.

I loved the way the sun was shining through the tree at Dawes Lake and the sunburst it created.

Another view of the same tree at sunrise with Dawes Lake and a bridge in the background.

Moving on to the Japanese Garden, it started to warm up a bit, but it was still very cold.  Joan and I had the garden to ourselves for a while – it was beautiful, quiet and peaceful.
